SS Orontes of the Orient Line dinner menus for 17th and 31st August 1956 that feature different cover illustrations by Douglas Annand of Sydney; together with some research about the artist, a sheet of SS Orontes letterhead paper, and a postcard of the ship. All the items are housed in a plastic folder. The lot also comes with a similar folder containing a 1950s postcard of the P&O liner Stratheden with two other similar period postcards, and early tourist brochures for Fremantle and Perth. An interesting lot The menu cover above is entitled "Randwick" and was part of a series of seven illustrations by Annand related to racecourses, and commissioned by the Orient Line

Returned Sailors' Soldiers' and Airmen's Imperial League of Australia, Queensland Branch; a pair of hand painted colourful certificates each 302x404mm with greetings to Her Most Excellent Majesty Elizabeth II upon her visit to Australia in 1954, hand signed by the State President and Secretary of the League, together with presidents and secretaries of the State district branches. The certificates are fixed on board and housed in a custom made binder that folds out to reveal the two certificates in tandem. It was created for personal presentation to the Queen but was considered too large and not in perfect condition - as a result a smaller version was prepared and presented to Her Majesty. Beautifully presented
