Kelson's Mansfield Hotel Threepence 24mm in copper, EF or better with remaining lustre
Right in the middle of Victoria's high country, this old hotel still stands and dates from the late 1830s. Mansfield was also the scene of the murder of three policemen by the Kelly Gang in 1878 - their gravestones still stand in the Mansfield Cemetery. It has long been debated that this piece should be included in the Australian tradesmen's token series as its use was similar to the much revered Hindmarsh Hotel tokens from South Australia |
